Daily Diary – 5/19/18

Why I Write These:

These are written in honor of my grandfather, Leon Milton Buttermore, who has a memory that I am envious of, and I hope that by doing this I am able to be the kind of man who starts to treasure the things given him.

Daily Highlights:

Godly thought of the day:

Luke 3:9 says: “The ax is already at the root of the trees, and every tree that does not produce good fruit will be cut down and thrown into the fire.”

Been a long day, so I’m going to go quick through this. The axe is at the root. Are we ready for it to strike? Will it strike? Let us produce fruit and be assured that the ax will not swing.

Favorite meeting of the day:

No meetings today.

Hardest part of my day:

It was a good day. Being outside all day and cheering on people. But seeing people have their careers end is hard.

Favorite moment of the day:

Sitting around on a patio with the guys and telling jokes.

What was the weather like today?:

It was quite good! I didn’t get sunburned either! Yay!

Most unfaithful moment of my day:

I actually felt that my mind wasn’t focused on me today. It was focused on others. And those are always the best kind of days.

What am I currently reading?:

Daily Bible Reading – 2 Chronicles 9-12

Church History by Eusebius – No reading for this today.

Addictions: A Banquet in the Grave by Ed Welch – No reading for this today.

No Place for Truth: Or Whatever Happened to Evangelical Theology? by David F. Wells – Same general concept. The Bible isn’t simply a good narrative about our experience. It is a narrative that explains something about our experience that we couldn’t know otherwise.

On the Bondage of the Will by Martin Luther – No reading for this today.

Holiness by J.C. Ryle – No reading for this today.

What was for dinner?:

Lots of things.

Song of the day:

No songs today – I know this is incredulous, but I went all day without listening to any music.

Quote of the day:

“When you accidentally ask Satan for a puppy.” — Andrew Hastings

Don’t ever ask Satan for a puppy.

Prayer of the day:

Lord, thank you for people to serve. Help me to serve them in your name. You are worthy.
